Time for Relax

6 Ways to Quickly Relax

As effective as Phuket spa packages are at providing relaxation, we don’t always have the option to clock off for an hour or two for some intensive massage treatment. Sometimes you need a quick fix – just something to release a bit of pressure and keep you going until the end of the day. For just those situations, we’ve picked out a few simple but effective relaxation techniques for you.

Breathe

Sounds obvious – almost stupidly so – but a few deep breaths will do you a power of good. Be sure to concentrate on nothing else but slowly inhaling and exhaling. This is a basic form of meditation and helps to clear your mind while also re-energising your body.

Breathe, Relax Time

Stretch

Quite a few Phuket spa packages involve stretching and working your joints as part of a Thai massage. If you’re sat at your desk and the time until you clock of is going slower and slower, stand up and find somewhere quiet to flex your back, shoulders and neck. Opening up your chest by pulling your shoulders back will also help with the breathing. You can really fill your lungs to their maximum capacity.

Laugh

There some types of therapy which work primarily on getting you to just laugh. Hang out with some good friends, crack a few jokes and have a good giggle. The release of endorphins you get from it will melt away any worries and stresses.

Aromatherapy

While the science on this subject is unconfirmed, aromatherapy plays a role in Phuket spa packages and other traditional treatments, and has done for centuries. Smells can be surprisingly evocative. The odour of a familiar food will often bring back good memories and happy thoughts. Other smells are said to bring instant relaxation – most notably lavender. Put a few drops of lavender oil on your wrist and give it a sniff when you’re feeling fraught.

Music

Music is also extremely evocative. Everyone has at least one song which sends chills up their spine, whether its because of the melody, the lyrics or the memories that come with it. On the other hand, there are some songs which cool us down and ease our minds. Different songs have different effects on different people, so experiment and see what works for you.

Acupressure

Kind of like a cross between acupuncture and a massage, acupressure helps to encourage better circulation in tired limbs. It’s certainly not going to have the same impact as Phuket spa packages will, but it will keep you going until you’ve got time for one. Simply massage the muscle between your thumb and index finger with the thumb and index finger of the other hand. A little pressure here will go a long way.
